Successful Partners for Breeding


Artificial insemination (A.I.) of pigs is in great demand. The proportion of litters from A.I. in 2007 was on average more than 90 % in Germany. There are about 40 A.I. stations, with about 5,000 boars in total, which are organized in ZDS.

German pig A.I. stations guarantee their efficiency by financing A.I. research and by constantly applying science to their work.
Together with pig breeding, gene research is also being sponsered, so that the latest findings in this field can be used.







In the context of supporting research, preservation by deep freezing and long-term diluents, amongst other things, have been developed.
These techniques are used in the storage of gene reserves, export of sperm and storage on the farm for serveral days, e.g. over the weekend.

Strict hygienic measures and constant veterinary monitoring to the standard of the European Boar Semen Directive 90/429/EEC guarantee a maximum of sanitary safety.



Pregnancy controls, A.I. training, management training and reproduction advice are additional services of the German A.I. stations.


Semen portions are delivered within the shortest possible time by courier services. Special packaging systems for fresh sperm quarantee a constant storage temperature at any time of the day and season, even over long journeys.

Outstanding boars are available as Top-Genetics on the basis of special testing and selection programmes. This service guarantees an additional performance advantage.
